Helping in Haiti

We would like to bring your attention to a great organization that has been helping in Haiti for 10 years. While the Red Cross is a great organization they depend on local organizations to deliver the aid that Haitians need, unfortunately some of these local groups on the ground will deny aid to people who are LGBT in Haiti - this isn't right.

The Rainbow World Fund ensures that aid delivered to Haiti makes it to LGBT people as well as everyone else - in short they make sure that no one is turned away from food, water, shelter or healthcare because they are gay. We urge you to donate to Rainbow World Fund if you want to ensure that everyone in Haiti gets the help they need.

In Boise the ISGCI will be working to raise money for the releif effort in the month of June - we are waiting until then because as the media attention in Haiti fades we want to make sure that the much needed funds keep coming in.

Dykes in Drag!

Keep checking back here for photos of the Dykes in Drag event being held tonight at VAC.

Snap! Raising the bar at shows...

It has been brought to our attention through the many caring and hard-working members of this organization and our community that we have allowed ourselves to become complacent as we produce drag shows in the Treasure Valley and beyond.

The 32nd reign is committed to raising the bar to the level of excellence that this community has come to expect from our shows. We are working with many people to once again produce shows that we can all be proud of. We look forward to hearing your feedback and input as we embark on this endeavor.

Additionally there have been some comments about performers and their performances. With this in mind here are a few tips for performers at any of our shows:

-Show up on time, every time. This also means getting your music to the venue at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the show.
-Please try to avoid coming to an event wearing the same costume you intend to perform in. ISGCI always sets aside a space for a dressing room.
-When a show has a theme (e.g. Christmas) please try and do a number that is in keeping with that theme.
-Tipping: the golden rule is that you should tip performers as much as you want to be tipped. When possible always tip the reigning monarchs during their performances (failing to do so is almost always noticed by the monarchs as well as members of the ISGCI).
-If you can, take some time after the show to mingle with the patrons and/or help tear down the set.
-Sets are almost always put together around noon the day of the show - we can always use help.

If you have any more ideas about what should or should not be done please let us know.
